In January 2020 the 27th edition of the Netherlands Violin Competition will take place at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. More than 100 candidates will compete for prizes in four different age categories.

The finalists of the prestigious Oskar Back category for professional violinists in the age of 18 to 26 years await a tremendous career boost. The winners will receive a substantial prize money, and will be supported with career opportunities, masterclasses, advice and career coaching. They will embark on a series of concerts in the Netherlands and Europe. Ekkehard Jung Artists & Projects will represent the competition in Europe.

The Netherlands Violin Competition has a strong tradition that stretches back over 50 years. First prize winner of the 2018 edition is Berlin based violinist Niek Baar. Among the former laureates are world renowned artists like Janine Jansen, Liza Ferschtman, Jaap van Zweden, Emmy Verhey, Vera Beths, Daniel Rowland, Tjeerd Top and more recently Simone Lamsma and Rosanne Philippens.
